History
The Fair Trial Initiative began accepting interns in the summer of 2003. Since then, we have accepted summer and term-time interns from undergraduate colleges, social work programs, and law schools across the country.

Undergraduates and social work students interested in interning or volunteering with FTI should contact Mark Kleinschmidt at mark@fairtrial.org.

For law students, our summer internship program provides the opportunity to do a variety of trial-related death penalty work. Law interns may be called upon to research and draft motions, meet with clients, interview witnesses and family members, assist in the collection and review of documents, and to take on other tasks as needed. The position is open to first- and second-year law students with a commitment to capital defense.

Law students should submit a completed application, along with a cover letter, resumé, and writing sample of not more than 10 pages to:
